Digital

View camera scan with custom color profile and archival CD/DVD

This is today’s best possible scan. Compared to an 8x10 transparency with drum scan, this digital scan is sharper and has more accurate color with no film grain. The total cost is also less expensive. We us a Better Light scanning back in an optimal studio set up. Excellent color management starts at the first step: we make a custom color profile for each image. The digital file (maximum size 1100 MB) is good for all applications from email to huge high-quality reproductions. We write your file to an archival gold CD or DVD at no extra charge.

Digital SLR scan

This high quality scan is useful for full-page reproductions and most prints up to 16x20. Best for magazine-size print jobs, it is an economical alternative to a large format scan. Each scan has a custom color profile and we take the same care with lighting and camera profiling that we take with the large format scan. Maximum file size is 145 MB.

4x5 Transparency
8x10 Transparency

Crisp, clear, clean and evenly lit without reflections, 4x5 transparencies have been the traditional foundation of high quality color reproduction. Picture books and magazines have depended mostly on 4x5 transparencies for the last 60 years. They are accepted by all professional printers and required by a few print shops that haven’t made the transition to working with digital. Transparencies still have one advantage over digital reproduction: they can be viewed without equipment. You can get a fair understanding of the image on a large transparency simply by holding it to a light.

8x10 transparencies supply 4 times the surface and detail of 4x5s. They are appropriate for the most valuable art objects and often required for professional art appraisal.

35mm transparencies and negatives

For 35mm slides and negatives we charge for studio time and film. If we are shooting 35mm slides of your work at the same time as large format film, there is only one studio time charge.
